  • 11:45: Dr Bud Johnston - Master Gardener - "Raised Bed Gardens". Dr Bud will go over the space saving approach to raised beds for the home gardener.
  • 1:00pm: Jeff O’Donal - "New Plants for the urban landscape". Jeff will bring his knowledge of the new types of plants in the industry that can be used for the urban landscaping. Jeff is the owner of O’Donals nurserys.
  • 2:15pm: Susan Carter from Gnome Landscapes - "The Big Hello: How to Make Your Landscape Welcoming". Add grace and value to your residence!
  • 3:30pm: Ernie Glabau - Entwood Bonsai - "Growing Happy Bonsai" Have you ever bought or received a beautiful Bonsai as a gift only to have a dead tree and an empty bonsai pot one month later?   • 10:30am: Tony Jadczak- Maine State Bee inspector - "Setting up your own hives and attracting other pollinators"
  • 11:45am: Paul Tukey - People Places & Plants, "Your Children, Your Pets & Your Lawn: How & Why to Grow Grass without Chemicals that are Known to be Toxic” Lawns" - Book signing afterwards.
  • 1:00pm: Deb Martin - "Complete Compost Gardeners Guide" - Book signing afterwards.
  • 2:15pm: Kevin Kearns - "The Art & Challenge of growing Orchids. They are easier than you think." A basic overview of the care and culture of the many orchids grown throughout the temperature zones. Kevin Kearns is past president of the Maine Orchid Society and a past judge of the Boston Flower Show, with 35 years in the industry.
  • 3:30pm: Gina Marianacci - Carter Design Group - "Container Gardening". Gina will discuss the history and importance of containers in the landscape. A slide show of Carter Design Group’s best containers will highlight both technical and creative aspects of container gardening.
  • 4:45pm: Laura Turner- Wild Birds Unlimited - "Birds and Gardens, a Natural Combination" - Bring more color and life to your yard naturally with birds. Laura shares advice on how to attract birds to your yard, and the benefits birds provide to garden.

SATURDAY MARCH 8

  • 10:30am: Ted Carter - "Urban Space designing- Sustainable Gardening" - Ted will feature a dynamic slide show that takes you behind the scenes of project installation. Learn to look at landscape through the eyes of a professional.
  • 11:45am: Penny O’Sullivan - "The Homeowner’s Complete Tree & Shrub Handbook" - book signing afterwards.
  • 1:00pm: Bob Maurais - "Mainely Ticks" - Personal protection as well as landscape modifications to make your property less tick friendly.
  • 2:15pm: Victoria Rowell - "The Women who Raised Me" - author and actress raised in Portland Maine.
  • 3:30pm: John Forti - Strawbery Banke Museum - "Children and Gardening"
  • 4:45pm: Janet Edwards Mountain Mama of Maine - "Plants to grow for all Natural Skin Care"

SUNDAY MARCH 9

  • 10:30am: Chris Miller - Avid gardener - "Becoming Self sufficient from your garden"
  • 11:45am: Chris Paquette - "Robins Nest" - From water gardens to natural pools - Chris will cover design, costs and construction of water features for your garden.
  • 1:00pm: John Forti - "Heirloom Herbs and Heirloom Native Plants", an illustrated talk and living history with John Forti, currently Curator of Historic Landscape at Strawbery Banke Museum in Portsmouth NH.
  • 2:15pm: Barbara Spoffard - "These Aren’t Your Grannie’s African Violets". Barbara will show you some of the most beautiful varieties available.
  • 3:30pm: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Barbara Freeman - "Virtual Tour of Maine’s Botanical Garden". During its 2007 grand opening season, Coastal Maine Botanical Garden welcomed 40,000 visitors. Take a colorful virtual tour of this spectacular, 248 acre garden with Director of Communications, Barbara Freeman.
