Welcome to The Portland Company Marine Complex  
The Portland Company is a nine acre industrial site with a commanding location on the eastern end of the waterfront. It was established in 1846 as a locomotive foundry to build railroad equipment for the connection between Portland and Montreal. It was a significant New England medium to heavy steel fabricator until 1978. It had a proud history of serving New England manufacturer's and utilities while building 628 locomotives 160 ships (including Iron Clads), equipment for the Panama Canal and so on. Presently the site has become a marine oriented complex with a small marina, several marine as well as other office tenants and an operating Maine two-foot narrow gauge railroad museum.

This world famous industrial revolution railroad collection is open to the public seven days a week. The line runs along Portland's seawall with a panoramic view of the harbor, its forts, maritime activity and weather. (Available event space for parties, weddings and fund raisers)

SailMaine.org: SailMaine is a state-wide non-profit organization formed to support sailing in Maine at the grass-roots, community level. SailMaine's mission is to open a sailing gateway to the seascape and shore lands of Maine, offering broad access to the educational opportunities to be found there.
